Our Approach

At Learning Equality, we create tech-enabled, quality learning opportunities for the 34% of the world who are not yet online.

At Learning Equality, we create tech-enabled, quality learning opportunities for the 33% of the world who are not yet online.

We do this by:

Creating offline-first, needs-driven edtech

We build easily adaptable digital platforms and tools that provide

access to curriculum-aligned, easy-to-find materials, support

student-centered learning, and address the needs of low-resource

communities through iterative feedback loops.

Facilitating organic, scalable use of edtech

We design for both community-driven and systemic adoption of free

and open edtech tools, supported by open content, guidance

materials, and spaces for sharing knowledge.

Fostering student-centered, equitable learning

We focus on strengthening organizational capacity to support

educators globally in implementing blended learning.

Working for systems change

By advocating for the creation and use of open curricula, datasets,

tools, and blended learning practices that support the inclusion of

historically and systemically marginalized communities.

Building learning communities

By convening and collaborating with communities and coalitions to share

experiences around the use of education technology, open

resources, and student-centered learning.

Our Approach to Design

Our approach to designing is open, transparent, and needs driven. It heavily involves collaborating with communities through a tight feedback loop that informs all aspects of our work, from product design to training sessions, guidance materials, and even our events.

In order to ensure that our open products meet needs across a diverse range of global contexts, we balance many factors: equity concerns, feedback from our users, educational research, our organizational vision, and technical constraints.

To identify the best path forward, we are guided by a set of four core design principles: equitable access, effective learning, community ownership and consistent experiences.
